How to Determine the Quality of Synthetic Resin Roof Tiles
The most direct way to assess quality is to examine the surface. High-quality roof tiles have an ASA layer with a uniform, fine luster; even if you scratch it hard with your fingernail, it won’t leave a mark. You can select a tile and hold it up to the sunlight to examine it. If the surface feels grainy or the color appears uneven, it is almost certainly a substandard product. There is also a somewhat old-fashioned method: use a lighter to singe the edge of the tile. A high-quality tile will only soften slightly and emit a little white smoke, while a substandard tile will turn black immediately, emit thick smoke, and give off a pungent odor.
The installation process is also highly reflective of product quality; in some cases, the joints between tiles appear misaligned after installation. This is mostly due to insufficient mold precision and poor control of raw material shrinkage rates. The dimensions of the tile interlocking tabs are extremely precise, making installation exceptionally smooth for contractors. Additionally, you can check the back of the tiles for production batch numbers and quality inspection labels; reputable manufacturers clearly mark this information.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that compared to traditional asbestos shingles and color-coated steel shingles, resin shingles offer advantages in thermal insulation, soundproofing, corrosion resistance, and longevity. However, this is only true if you purchase shingles that meet quality standards; otherwise, these advantages could turn into disadvantages. Choosing brands that have stood the test of time—such as Gaoyi, Hongbo, Gongli, and Xingfa—is far more reliable than blindly chasing the lowest price. The resin roofing tile industry has come a long way, and the manufacturing process is now quite mature. As long as you don’t cut corners by buying substandard products, they will last 20 to 30 years with no issues under normal use.
