I’ve been working in the roofing materials industry for over a decade, and I’ve handled quite a variety of roof tile types. Recently, the benefits of products like ASA resin shingles have indeed been the topic most frequently asked about by many clients. So now, I’m going to break down and explain in detail some of the observations I’ve made while working on actual projects—I’ll absolutely avoid any fluff or exaggerations meant to hype or disparage the product— I’ll simply share my most authentic feelings and insights from working on-site.
Are resin roof tiles durable?
In the warehouse, samples of color-coated steel roofing sheets and ASA resin roofing tiles are stored together. After five or six years of use, the surface of color-coated steel roofing sheets begins to peel and may even rust. Once the rainy season arrives, leaks become a frequent occurrence.
I put the ASA resin roofing tiles through a special test: I deliberately left a sample outside, exposing it to direct sunlight for a full three years. Even after all that, its color remained virtually unchanged. When I tapped it with a small hammer, it didn’t crack easily. In terms of toughness, it’s definitely far superior to color-coated steel roofing tiles.

In the south, where the climate is both humid and rainy and the UV radiation is intense, Weather Resistance of the ASA Surface LayerThis product is truly durable and can withstand a lot of wear and tear. Unlike ordinary PVC roofing tiles, which turn yellow and become brittle after just two years of use and must be replaced, this one doesn't.
Advantages of ASA Resin ShinglesIs it obvious?
Lightweight—that’s the biggest practical benefit, It weighs only one-fifth as much as traditional clay tiles, Renovating an old house doesn't require additional reinforcement of beams and columns, which can cut the total construction time in half.
Sound insulation has also improved significantly. During heavy downpours, you can hardly hear any outside noise inside the house. This design is much quieter than a color-coated steel roof, making it very comfortable to live in.
When considering all factors together, ASA resin roofing tiles demonstrate significant advantages in terms of weather resistance, light weight, and durability. In addition, they require relatively low maintenance costs down the line, compared to color-coated steel roofing sheets—which require repeated repairs and replacements—it is indeed much more cost-effective when calculated from an overall cost perspective.
