With the addition of UV inhibitors and stabilizers, their resistance to aging is significantly enhanced, and under normal use, they can last for more than 20 years.
We have been involved in several long-term monitoring projects in the Northwest region, where ultraviolet radiation is quite intense. Under normal conditions, standard roof tiles begin to fade and crumble after three to five years; however, after being exposed to the same environmental conditions, PVC roof tiles show virtually no change in color. PVC roof tiles are equally suitable for rainy and humid areas in the south. This is because PVC does not absorb water, so the tiles do not deform due to repeated cycles of swelling from water absorption and shrinking during drying. Admittedly, product quality on the market varies widely. Some manufacturers, in an effort to cut costs, reduce the amount of stabilizers used or pass off recycled materials as new ones. The roof tiles they produce may look virtually identical on the surface, but problems will become apparent over time. Therefore, when searching for a manufacturer, it is essential to scrutinize the source of their raw materials and their production standards—do not simply take the sales representative’s word for it.
How to Choose a Reliable PVC Roof Tile Manufacturer
When it comes to finding manufacturers, I’ve run into quite a few pitfalls myself. When I first started in this industry, I placed orders based solely on low prices and fast delivery. However, once the goods arrived at the construction site, I discovered that the thickness didn’t meet standards and the color was uneven, which led to rework and ultimately cost me a lot of money and time. When selecting a manufacturer, you must never focus solely on price; you also need to check their qualifications, review case details, and consider after-sales support.
Some reputable manufacturers have their own production facilities and testing equipment, with quality control in place at every stage—from raw material blending to extrusion molding. They often provide test reports covering various metrics such as impact strength, fire resistance rating, and wind pressure resistance; you can request these reports for review. Additionally, it’s quite important to find out which projects they’ve completed—preferably those in regions with climate conditions similar to yours, as these will provide more valuable reference information.
Another approach is to conduct an on-site visit—go to the manufacturer’s facility to observe how the production lines operate and examine how raw materials and finished products are managed in the warehouse. There are some small-scale, workshop-style factories with outdated equipment and chaotic management; products manufactured under such conditions will inevitably suffer from significantly reduced quality consistency. We subsequently selected a factory that had been in operation for seven or eight years. We visit the site once a year to conduct inspections, and whenever an issue is discovered, we communicate it immediately and resolve it on the spot; as a result, our partnership has always been extremely smooth.
