ASA is structurally similar to ABS, consisting of acrylonitrile and butadiene rubber, and it retains the mechanical and physical properties that ABS has as an engineering plastic.

2、ASA has strong weather resistance

If the polymer contains double bonds, the double bonds are easily opened by the ultraviolet rays of the sunlight with higher energy intensity, which causes the aging resistance of the polymer to decline. ASA replaces the butadiene rubber containing unsaturated double bonds in ABS with acrylic rubber containing no unsaturated double bonds, and therefore not only resists degradation, aging, and fading caused by ultraviolet rays, but also provides a strong guarantee against decomposition or discoloration caused by high temperatures during oxidative processing in the atmosphere. The decomposition or discoloration caused by high temperature during oxidation process has been strongly guaranteed, which greatly improves the anti-aging and weather-resistant performance of the material. According to the test results, the anti-aging performance of ASA is more than 10 times that of ABS (some cheap resin tiles are made of ABS instead of ASA, so the price is cheap, but the quality, as you can imagine).

ASA Application Areas

Automotive field: ASA will not turn gray (due to many microscopic cracks and cavitation on the surface caused by wind erosion or water flow) like specially treated aging-resistant ABS after sustained wind erosion for a long period of time.Typical applications of ASA are exterior mirrors, radiator grills, tailgates, lampshades, and other exterior parts subjected to harsh conditions such as sunlight and rain, and strong wind blowing. More gradually, it has been extended to motorcycle panels, camping cars, small boat hulls, surfboards and other fields.

Horticulture: ASA has proven to be particularly suitable for horticultural irrigation equipment and lawn cutter housings, among others.

Electrical and electronic field: It is preferred to be used in the casing of durable equipment, such as: sewing machine, telephone, kitchen equipment, satellite antenna and other all-weather casing.

Construction field: ASA/PVC blends are used for roof siding and window materials, which have been practically applied abroad for more than 10 years.
